ReGroup/ReLoad/Relaunch!!!

Well, the campaign on Indiegogo expired without us reaching out target goal of $70,000 for the production of THE MARSCHER LORDS:Brotherhood or Death. We’ll fall on our swords since – obviously – there’s still some things/nuances we’re not doing/aware of re: crowdfunding. There’s a big, still-evolving learning curve on it and obviously our blade isn’t sharp enough yet to cut through the vast swathe of crowdfunding projects listed on the various crowdfunding sites. That’s ok. We’re all about moving  forward and learning as we go. The time the project was active was not wasted, we made many more contacts & connections and were/still are able to turn more people on to the project. Wonder if we were doing a zombie project if we’d’ve done better $$ wise? :<D

WOW!!! – Now (as of this writing) at 4, 587 Likes on FB!!! Moving ever-upward. The hard work on THE MARSCHER LORDS:Brotherhood or Death goes on. While it’s true it has never been easier to create your own project, the heavy-lifting that one has to do to get to the goal has increased exponentially. Why? Because everybody’s attempting crowdfunding!!!  One of the differentiating characteristics of these projects here  is that they’ve all been formed as their own corporations, so we’re not beholden to crowdfunding. We can bring in private capital from investors and they can feel secure in knowing that they are attaching themselves to a professional organization. Presaging Scorched Earth: The Other Side of World War II: Opening today of note is a new Russian film Stalingrad directed by Fedor Bondarchuk, son of Sergie Bondarchuk, the legendary director of such cinematic masterpieces as War & Peace (roundly considered an epic among epics) & Waterloo. The production value is very high and it is the first film about Stalingrad ever shot in 3-D. Should make for an interesting two hours for that alone. This review however doesn’t give the story many high marks. But movies are like ice cream, there’s different flavors.

Pledges remain low (hell – we’re not even in the ballpark) for THE MARSCHER LORDS:Brotherhood or Death and we’re getting down to the wire: as of this writing 15 days left...

FV ‘Harbinger Down’ Steams Back into Port Amid Sad News…

News came this a.m. that we’ve lost Harold Ramis, the terrific geeky-chic actor & director who brought the world such gems as CaddyShack (starring friend of the site & all-around terrrific acting teacher Scott Colomby), Groundhog Day, & Ghostbusters. Came out of Second City in Chicago, which is a terrific training ground for sketch comedy actors. A late friend of ours – Frank Payne – was also an alumni. Scott always spoke very highly of him and you can see his wit in his interviews, especially here on the “Quotability of Caddyshack”.  The world will miss your unique ability to make us laugh and bring zany comedy to the screen Mr. Ramis. It seems at only 69, you have a lot of good years left in you.

‘It’s Not Just a Movie, but a Movement…’

Chivalry. Honor. Duty. Gallantry.

Those words may be a bit foreign to some in today’s modern, fast-paced, teckie-type world, but to knights of the Teutonic Order, Knights Templar, & the Livonian Order, they were sacred words by which to live and die. Die schwerpunkt, or “point of main effort”, was to protect the what was considered at the time defenseless (see below) making the pilgrimage to the Holy Land. It was for this that they were founded. The Teutonic Order’s castle still stands today at Acre, on the peninsula in the Gulf of Haifa. Amazing, since it’s been fought over and around about six times since the First Crusade in 1104.

Paul is slated to be in the feature length version, and we’re very excited to have the opportunity to work with him. But we’ve got to get this short off the ground first, as it will act as a trailer for the feature and attract $$. Paul’s weathering this winter in the UK (along with the three other seasons). Paul – like his compatriots here in the U.S. is an actor, and a damn fine one to boot! He’s working on a project now – in London we believe. On the Cutting Edge…

And building…building…building a fan base, building a social network, building a base from which to operate. As every professional military officer can tell you: every offensive depends on logistical support – without logistics – your attack may start out great but will soon peter out unless properly supported. You must maintain the velocity of the drive. So far that’s been about 99.999 % of what we’re doing here. The fanbase continues to increase across the globe, we’re seeing a huge uptick in interest & Likes on the FB page coming – in particular – from the Philippines. We would never have predicted this, but since THE MARSCHER LORDS:Brotherhood or Death cast member Edwin H Bravo is a native-born (Sampaloc, Manila) Filipino, it’s a nice benefit...

Being of ‘The Brotherhood…’

At the risk of being overly philosophical in this post, we thought we’d attempt to touch base on what it is that attracts us – men especially – to those in earlier times who served as knights? The whole idea & concept of an Order and being part of a “Brotherhood” leaves many innately intrigued. What is it exactly? The Chivalric Orders – whether Teutonic, Templar, Hospitaller, or Livonian – seem to act as a magnet for a large group of people. Why is this? It is an age long ago (after all we’re talking Medieval Times here) and the Chivalric Orders – though still existing today – seem to be “off the front pages” as it were. We thinks there may be a cultural reason for this. Ever since the advent of what is termed “pop culture”, which Wikipedia defines as

Production Notes…

A word here on how production of THE MARSCHER LORDS:Brotherhood or Death will go and what we’re looking to accomplish with it. As it is a period piece – set in Europe (specifically the northern area of Germany/Prussia ) in the 13th Century – we had to find an area that (on the West Coast of California) – could credibly pass for that. Credibility (i.e. believability) is a big thing with us. Since there was much action in the Prussian region and along the Baltic Coast during the time of the Barbarian Invasions with the Teutonic Knights putting down uprisings of the pagans who lived in Prussia, the coast seemed like a natural fit. However, we needed to find an area that could pass for the Baltic Coast...

Of course we had to design a shirt!!! How could we not? With the uniqueness of this production and all those associated with it, we had to come up with a simple – yet smooth & cool-looking – design, something that would make a statement about the production & announce it at the same time. The Ambassadors of Goodwill by Special Arrangement have already been supplied with a small number to give out to their closest relatives & friends. In short, to those the Ambassadors feel will spread the word about this production & what it’s about thereby (hopefully) kindling more interest in it and – ergo – more pledges on the Indiegogo site.
