THE MARSCHER LORDS:Brotherhood or Death Buzz Continues to Build!!!
Stunning Development:
Yesterday was contacted by a family member from former Teutonic Knight Großmeister Ludolf Koënig, who served as Großmeister from 1342 – 1345. He provided his bona fides (verified) and was cautiously interested to know more about the project, which I layed out to him in detail (members of The Order and their families are – understandably – very discreet individuals). I explained how this project is different from your usual (below) average Hollywood “costume drama” (Executive Production Designer Sir Brick Price’s words) and how the script gets down to what is the essence of a knight: services to others, defense of the helpless & those in need, and service & obedience to God. I explained how the story centers on two brothers at a critical moment in both their relationship and their lives: the Mongols continue their advance, and there is little the vastly outnumbered Teutonic Knights can do other than attempt to mitigate the disaster and get all the women and children out of harm’s way. One brother who is a Lord, sees things through a much different prism: his prime desire is to protect and salvage as much of the riches from the landed estates in the area as possible. This is the conflict: one brother seeks to save & protect life while the other seeks to save & protect monetary goods (you can read about all this over @ THE MARSCHER LORDS:Brotherhood or Death Official Site). I do think he was impressed and anxious to see the result of the film. I explained the reason it’s a short film, it will be utilized as a platform to raise money for a feature film project (and – God willing – a franchise at that). And the unique attribute about the film is that it could be a scene cut right out of a full-length feature film.
Another unique feature of THE MARSCHER LORDS:Brotherhood or Death build up PR campaign is that it is revealing a large niche in the entertainment marketplace that isn’t being filled, either willfully or not. Those that officially “Like” the project’s Facebook page are largely male. Hollywood has largely been catering its product toward women (with exceptions of course) but testosterone-charged fare such as this has largely been absent for awhile. And – its important to point out – what we’re doing is not “comic book” style but keeping it historically accurate & real.
THE MARSCHER LORDS:Brotherhood or Death Buzz Continues to Build…
That’s why we need all your help to make this project a success. THE MARSCHER LORDS:Brotherhood or Death will be going active on Indiegogo.com on Jan 15, 2014. If just 700 of you who “Liked” our page on Facebook can pledge $100 each, we’ll reach out production goal of $70,000. Film production costs $$$ and there’s no getting away from that. But if you’re going to produce high-grade, high quality-level entertainment, who can’t do it on the cheap or cut too many corners. For example, to secure the film permits needed (two per day) alone is in excess of $3000.
But our major asset is that outstanding production team assembled: Emmy Award-winning (& Academy Award nominated) Executive Production Designer Sir Brick Price, two-time Grammy nominee Dean Andre overseeing Production Sound, Director of Photography John Lynch, who won the Toronto Film Festival Award last year. They are all working well below scale to bring this project to the screen, and that’s where you – our potential viewer & supporter of this project – come in. We ask you to help spread the word via Twitter, email, FB posts, google posts, pin it, tumblr….all of the above. Because this is the movie that YOU are making. Not happy with the standard fare coming out of Hollywood? Ok, welcome to our club and here’s your chance to make a difference.
