Soldiers of the GroBdeutschland hitch a ride on an Assault Gun

We’re all about helping out fellow filmmakers here, especially of the historical sort. There’s a great group of guys putting together what looks to be a very interesting series, called The Vanquished, about an elite unit (the Großdeutschland or “Greater Germany” Division which fought exclusively on the Eastern Front during the Second World War. Begun as “Wacht Regiment Berlin” then was later given the designation “Großdeutschland” and was the closest thing to a “Guards” unit (in the British meaning of the term) that existed in the German Army. Later it was upgraded to a motorized infantry division and later – in 1943 – to a premier Panzer-Grenadier Division. The guys behind this project are a group of living historians, the 5 /kp Großdeutschland who take part in World War II re-enactments all over the continental U.S. We fell into talking to member Adam Bednar over the subject of the previous post – locating T-34 tanks. Searching this out, one is amazed at the amount of tanks (in private collections) to be found in England!!!  In a country where you can’t own a handgun (shotgun not sure about but we think those are outlawed too) you can own your own tank and drive it down the street no questions asked. Odd these Brits at times. Go figure.

Other friends of the site, Lenser Extraordinaire David Hansen-Sturm of Twin Palms Media – fresh from shooting the final interview for the “Masters of War: Soldiers of Distinction” teaser – had teamed up with his friend of many years – Daniel Roebuck – and have just released their campy shockumentary Dr Shocker’s Vault of Horror. It’s a scream (literally), also includes the talents of Chuck Williams, Jorge Garcia, Rob Zombie, & Guillermo del Toro. Written & directed by Daniel Roebuck who’ve you seen in countless films. In it you even get a paranormal tour of Haunted Hollywood!!! Great job guys, all around!!! This is something you can watch repeatedly every Halloween and never get tired of it.
